Buenos Aries

We arrived in Buenos Aries on Sunday, Feb 28th.  The ship stayed in port for 2 nights, so we went ashore for the day and did a "walk about" in the downtown area to get a feel for the city. It is a beautiful city with many beautiful buildings, old and new. Buenos Aries is called the Paris of South America and has many very broad avenues, one as wide as 22 lanes of traffic that took 2 lights to cross; and many parks with lots of statues and monuments. The cathedral here was also the home parish of Pope Francis when he was the Archbishop of Argentina.

There were many beautiful buildings that looked very Parisian

With lots of squares and parks

They are still protesting for the people who disappeared
during the military dictatorships

The Cathedral of Buenos Aries is a very unique design,
looking like a Greek Temple

The inside is very ornate

The Obelisk is a major landmark for the city. Our apartments
were located right near it.

Evita is still worshiped in Argentine culture.

They have the coolest buses with white wall tires.

Of course shopping in the historic galleria is expensive.
But it was a very beautiful place to walk around
