Tigre Delta

On Thursday, March 3rd, we took the subway and train to Tigre. The train system was amazing and incredibly cheap (return train trip for 2 for $2.50 CDN).  The Tigre Delta is a vast area covering over 5400 square miles and is one of the largest river deltas in the world. The delta contains several thousand islands, many with inhabitants. There are few services available to the residents (like electricity, running water etc.), so everyone lives "off the grid".  The only way to get to these areas is by boat. We took a river cruise and then had a fantastic lunch at an old rowing club.  The town has several rowing clubs and is the centre for the sport in Argentina.

The train was amazing

There were lots of people living in the delta.
This is similar to the Louisiana Bayou

The properties looked quite comfortable

But not all were up to par

Rowing is a very popular pastime and sport.
There are several rowing clubs in the delta, many dating back a hundred years

These are impressive buildings. Many are country based.

We had lunch in the former Italian Rowing Club
