Hop-on, Hop-off Bus

On Thursday, we jumped on the hop-on, hop-off bus and toured around Santiago.  This is a good way to get a feel for the city and to identify the sites you want to go back to.  Santiago is a very modern, beautiful city, yet with lots of historical buildings that are well preserved.  We are very impressed with the city and the friendly people of Chile.   We ended the day having wine at an outdoor patio bar enjoying the warm sunshine and the entertainment of a local street singer, Pablo.

There are many, very modern sky scrapers in Santiago

But lots of old, preserved buildings as well.

Cathedral Square

There were many pedestrian only walk ways.

There are lots of sculptues and art works around the downtown area.

The main government buildings

There were several water ditches to take the water run
off from the mountains through the city

A couple of locals in native costumes

Enjoying a drink at the end of the day.

Being entertained by Pablo, a local street musician. He was a very charming character.
